Our parents had custodians. We need a map.

When our parents’ generation needed something, someone else was holding it. The lawyer kept the will. The bank kept the box. The insurance company mailed a reminder every year.

Most of that has gone digital, self-service, and quiet. Nobody announced it, and nobody taught us a method. So the job of keeping track landed on us, the first generation to do it ourselves.

That isn’t a failing. It’s new. We’re not behind. We’re first.

What you’ll get

  • The Vital Legal Papers Checklist, a printable list of the papers that belong in your one place.
  • A few short emails over the next two weeks. Each one has a single small step, and none of them asks you to do it all at once.

What it isn’t

It isn’t a legal document, and it doesn’t replace a will. And it never asks for a password, an account number, or a Social Security number. It asks only what you have and where it’s kept.

Who’s behind it

I’m Vicki Peel. I spent 34 years in education as a classroom teacher and administrator, I hold a doctorate in Educational Leadership, and I’m a Certified Organizational Specialist. This fall I’m getting my own papers findable in public, one step a week, including the parts I got wrong. You can read where I started.

An hour now is an hour they don’t spend searching.
